Wave Burst Sample Interval Changing?
Hello All,
I am trying to program a 1MHz Aquadopp profiler for a deployment this summer. It will be deployed in 10 meters of water for 30 days. I am setting it to record 50 30 cm cells (25 cm blanking distance), every 10 minutes with 90 second averaging. I am also trying to set up wave burst sampling with 2 m bins, 512 samples, 2 Hz sample rate, with a sample interval of 3600 seconds.
The problem lies in the wave burst sample interval. If I change screens or load the deployment file from the instrument, the interval changes to 600 seconds as shown in the attached picture. I change it back to 3600, but it doesn't seem to stick...or does it? I am using Aquapro 1.33 installed on a Win Vista machine.
Is this wave burst sample interval something I can set, or is it computed based on other inputs? If I have my druthers, I'd like to set it for every other hour in order to free up battery power for more intense current profiling.
Thanks,
Chris
Hello Chris,
I am afraid this is a bug in v1.33. It has been fixed in v1.34. Please download from Software.

Hello All,
I have a related question. I am using an 1MHz Aquadopp Z-cell HR profiler.
It seems that it is not possible to have different measurement intervalls for current velocities and burst sampling(when operating in burst mode).
Is this correct?
So I cannot set the instrument to e.g. a 600s profile intervall(current veolcities) and a 3600 wave interval in HR mode??
This should be possible in normal mode, but after downlaoding the v1.34software(for Aquadopp profilers) I saw that, now I am able to change the burst interval by myself, but I could not find the input window to define the measurement interval (current measurment).
Did I overlook something or am I totally thinking in the wrong direction?
Thanks
Christian
Thanks,
Christian
Hi Christian,
The Aquadopp with Z-Cell head supports the HR firmware, however you will only be able to make measurements in the normal profile. The Z-Cell won't report data. Additionally, the HR firmware does not support wave burst sampling (more on this in a bit). Finally, with the standard processing firmware (non-HR) the Z-Cell will use the dedicated wave cell from the profile for wave measurements with the Z-Cell reporting only current data.
To clarify on the HR firmware burst mode. In the advanced tab, you can choose burst sampling. What this does is cause the HR Profiler to collect velocity data every burst interval for the specified number of samples. This is only velocity data as the HR firmware does not provide a wave measurement capability.
Hopefully that clarifies the issue you were having.
P.J.
