Pb of timing with Vectrino+
Dear Nortek,
We own two Nortek Vectrino + units. We have had some problem with the following units used solo:
Vectrino Fixed probe
Serial No. VNO 0436
P21419 Probe ID: VCN 7657
SP Housing
3D sidelooking head with 4 receivers (y' = 0 # y = 5.8 mm)
Vectrino Plus hardware
Firmware 1.29+ (Jan. 2008)
Firmware 1.29+ (April 2008, after repair)
We use the software Vectrino (version 1.18 Plus) and we noted some problem with the file output.
We compared:
- the .DAT file,
- the voltage output (whcih was sampled with NI VI Logger independently), and
- the .ADV file created by Vectrino (during conversion).
The test were performed in a steady open channel flow (V ~ 0.85 m/s) using 1 m/s velocity range and sampling at 200 Hz.
We noted that the .ADV file did not include a number of data errors (possibly communication errors) which were present
in the .DAT file and logged as voltage. As a result, the ADV file progressily become dis-synchonised with other devices
sampled with other softwares.
We would be grateful if you could indicate us how to resolve the pb. The time synchronisation between the ADV data and
other instruments is critical for some highly unsteady experiments that we are conducting.
Should we use an earlier version of Vectrino to resolve the timing issue?
I thank you for the advice.
Regards
Hubert Chanson
PS: We can provide all files (.Dat, .TXT (VI-Logger) and .ADV
Dear Hubert,
Please uploaded the data showing this behavior to ftp://ftp.nortek.no/Incoming/
Best regards
Jonas

I upload 5 files of the same data set:
.txt = VI-Logger (NI) text fle, with the Vx signal in voltage as last channel
.vno = Vectrino+ file (binary)
.hdr = heading file for ASCII file (created by Vectrino Software during Conversion)
.dat = ASCI file created by Vectrino+ software
.adv = ADV data file (created by Vectrino Software during Conversion)
As you will note the .ADV file (used in WinADV 2.028) did not include a number of data errors, possibly communication errors, in its post-processed data file (.VU & .VF) which were present in the .DAT file and logged as voltage in the .TX file. As a result, the ADV file progressily become dis-synchonised with other devices sampled with other softwares.
I thank you in advance for the advice.

I am unable to upload the files at ftp://ftp.nortek.no/Incoming/. I entered my Nortek username and password unsuccessfully. Thank you to provide me (eg by direct email) ftp details.
