Use of a stainless steel structure to aquadopp deployment

Posted by Cláudia Neto viegas at May 18. 2009

Dear Nortek team,

We found that some colegues form our institute have a stainsteel stuture where the aquadoop fits perfectly.

It is possible to use this kind os steel to deploy aquadopp? or it will interfere with aquadopp pressure sensor and orientation?

Best regards,

Cláudia

Dear Cláudia

Stainless steel is usually fine.  The only thing to worry about (with regard to the Aquadopp) is that the material is not magnetic.  This can quickly be seen by moving the material close to an Aquadopp that sits still while you are watching the compass output. Stainless steel is rarely magnetic.

I assume this is not a deep water Aquadopp made from titanium.
